About this blog
Partisan but inconclusive reflections from David Holiday. This blog was active from March 2004 to September 2005, and has recently been revived as of late 2007. Posts from that earlier period are searchable through the google link below. For over 20 years, I worked professionally on Central America -- residing there from 1991-2005, writing and working on human rights, peace processes and democratization. Following two short-term assignments -- in Uzbekistan (before getting kicked out), and Kabul, Afghanistan (voluntary departure!) -- I landed back in Washington, DC, working on Latin America. You can check out my website for further professional details. .

Comments
"Terrific - at last a publisher that understands your work!" --Alex Wilde
"Probably forgotten more than I will ever know about Latin America" --Randy Paul
"A reliable left-of-center critique of Things Southern" --Marc Cooper

Good Thoughts
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." --Daniel Patrick Moynihan
"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." --Thomas Jefferson
"Many people have taken action, but if their state of being is not peaceful or happy, the actions they undertake only sow more troubles and anger and make the situation worse. So instead of saying 'Don't just sit there; do something,' we should say the opposite, 'Don't just do something, sit there.'" --Thich Nhat Hanh
